About Our Organization

Forward Action Wisconsin Network (FAWN) was born from Pantsuit Nation. Pantsuit Nation began in 2016 as a small, private facebook group of Hillary Clinton supporters.  When the group went public, it grew exponentially.  The support for our potential first female president was astounding, and group members shared personal stories, hoping to inspire and comfort others.

Unfortunately, that glass ceiling remains and America has yet to witness a female president.  However, many new local, progressive groups have emerged in the wake of an unsettling, vitriolic election.  For many, the election results were unexpected and deeply disturbing.  We immediately recognized that the division in our nation was not simply between political parties.  The rhetoric of the campaign was extremely discriminatory, bigoted, and intended to pit Americans against one another.  FAWN was formed to fight against such division and discrimination, while placing an emphasis on female leadership and the feminist perspective.

We strongly believe in an America for all, and female leaders in our state, who hold a like vision, came together to form FAWN.  The mission of the statewide FAWN organization is to promote the dignity, safety, and respect of every person through education, advocacy, and political engagement by supporting and empowering marginalized voices and by working to ensure all human rights are made equal under the law.

FAWN is among many existing and emerging organizations that seek to resist the current administration and any policy which seeks to oppress, discriminate, or cause harm to individuals and minority groups.  FAWN Fox Valley was formed in January of 2017, and includes Appleton, Neenah, Menasha, Kimberly, Kaukauna, Little Chute, Grand Chute, Combined Locks, and surrounding areas.  The FAWN Fox Valley group vision and mission statement are as follows:

We are a group of local Northeast Wisconsin people who want to be a force for good in our communities.  We support kindness, respect, and inclusion.  We are opposed to hatred and bigotry, and resist all discriminatory speech, actions, and policy.  Our mission is to advocate for forward progress through education, empowerment, and political engagement.

Your FAWN Fox Valley leadership consists of Sara McDonald, Joanne Kendall, and Angela Schaffer.  You may contact FAWN Fox Valley at fawn.fv@forwardactionwi.org.
